NCAA Football Is BACK!!! EA Sports Surprise Announces Reboot
The video game gods have spoken and the best football game (not named NFL Blitz) is finally back! After 7 years of purgatory, the reboot to NCAA Football has been announced. The game was discontinued amid the ongoing debate over whether college athletes should be paid.
The original game dropped in 1993 with the final version being NCAA Football 2014. This last iteration was released in 2013 and featured Michigan QB Denard Robinson on the cover. That same year EA Sports was sued by student-athletes for using their likeness. They later settled for $60million, but the suit effectively killed the franchise.
What we know
The game is still in the early stages and won't be available this year.
The name is changing to EA Sports College Football.
University traditions will be used, but players likeness won't (as of now).
The Reggie Bush cover is the best of the franchise.
I'm hoping they bring back cover athletes. As regional as the sport is and how competitive the fan bases are towards each other, the selection process was always fun. Recruiting was always my favorite part of the game. I'm ready to visit some homes in the deep south and bring some of that beef back to the West Coast!
