Kike Hernandez Leaves Dodgers - Signing With Red Sox
Fan favorite Kike Hernandez has signed a multi-year deal with Boston, ending a 6-year run with the Dodgers. He heads East to one of the evil empires, Red Sox Nation. The deal is reportedly worth two year $14 million.
The Red Sox reportedly see him as a Second Basemen, who can also play the outfield. He could actually end up platooning in Center Field with former Dodger, Alex Verdugo. Kike would provide a right handed bat to match up with lefty Verdugo. The multi-year deal will probably mean he'll get a chance to be an everyday player, something he wasn't promised in LA.
The Dodgers will be a lot less colorful, losing the Puerto Rican Hernandez as the Latin exodus continues. Kike will join up with Puerto Rican manager Alex Cora. The two have a close relationship after working together on Team Puerto Rico in 2017.
Kike always played his best when the lights were brightest. He had plenty of big playoff moments and never played afraid, which couldn't be said for a lot of guys the last few years. Dodgers lost a gamer.
