Female Empowerment Post - 1st Female Super Bowl Ref!

Sarah Thomas continues to make history, as she will be the first women ever to officiate a Super Bowl! Congratulations to her on being a trailblazer for women in sports. The only equality within NFL Referees is the fact that most of them suck, so I'm glad Sarah will get her chance at the highest level.

Quick history, she was hired full time by the NFL in 2015, truly working her way up, starting with grade school football in Mississippi, then high school, before getting a chance at Division 1 football in the Conference USA. She became the first female to officiate a college bowl game, before becoming the first and only full-time official in the NFL.

She won't be the head referee for the Super Bowl, but with her commitment to her craft, it's only a matter of time before she's given the microphone and camera time.
